He checked in with the family first to get endorsement for the very sensitive subject. Of course, we all agreed. He wrote this amazing piece himself and all the ‘trimmings’ you need, as you will see. The written content is stunning, inclusive, thought-provoking and tear-jerking. And that goes for those that knew and were impacted so heavily by Naoko’s loss, and also for those that did not know us at the time.
I have told him that this has feelers into Gervais’ Afterlife. It’s sort of bittersweet symphony. You can’t help but cry and smile and at the very same time. Amy said it was so very sad and nice at the same time. That really does sum it up. In fact, I have sent it to Gervais.
So to close very proud Dad, extremely proud Dad actually. It’s a keeper this one for sure, and I just hope IB look at it and mark accordingly. Let me just add that he was under massive pressure as day #1 of final performance the sound crew cocked up. He had the choice to do it again. A week later he did. Half-way through #2 performance, the part where he goes outside of the theatre – bugger me there are loads of kids on the floor right outside the door, so the poor guy had to do take #3. And he nailed it, absolutely nailed it.
