Stella Bar @ Changi & Ice-Skating @ Kallang Leisure – busy weekend…
You may not know but Wifey, Jude Jude and I have been sleeping on the floor in Strawberry Blonde’s room for about a month. A very leaky bathroom causing a lot of repairs and therefore close bedroom was the cause. So this weekend we had the chance to move back in on Saturday but the bedroom needed a wash down to get rid of the dust. Gorgeous Wifey took on that task and sent me off with the kidlets. And that was Phase I of the weekend.
2nd Phase was that one of Jude Jude’s mates from school, Rohan, invited him to his birthday party. Covid-19 impacted of course. But it was skating over Kallang Leisure Park. 1st time for Jude Jude and his BFF’s so one parent had to adorn the skates too, yes your’s truly and so became a great Sunday morning messing about with the gang on the ice.

Stella is a little run down it has to be said. The boardwalks are all rotten and there is more ‘do not enter’ signs and red barriers up (as you’ll see in the photo below) than not. The paint is peeling off all over the place too. But it has charm. Once they changed the audiotape from the single song on a loop it became quite pleasant haha. In these Covid-19 days, it had the desired effect of making you think you were somewhere else on this planet. I liked that!!!
The kids and I sat, chatted, worked and played a little, watched the sea and the people falling off wind-surfers, and capsizing boats which were really funny.
Remind me one day to mention “Kite Man”. Bloody funny!!!

Not a bad little spread at Stella Bar @ Changi – Strawberry Blonde also opted for the lamb chops. All rather good it has to be said!
We even had a little mate join us. We called him Eddie. Eddie Lizard (hahaha). So funny he literally fell off the boardwalk into the bush below because he was staring at us. Too funny!
Yes, he got stuck into ice-cream for dessert and asked me to take a photo of his ice-cream moustache. Job done!!!
Just me or does that look like one huge f@ck off shark fin to the top left of the photo. Whoops. I feel like I’m in Amityville now… Sh, sh, sh, sh…
We even had a little skiff race as we sat there. A few beautiful capsizes too which was awesome and basically comedy gold for us all. Thanks to the sailors today who made us giggle.

And then it was Sunday. And after a quick ChillaxBBQ Brekkie we were off in a Grab to Kallang Leisure for Rohan’s birthday party. What a lovely family we met. Rohan’s Mum and Dad and three boys, Rohan is a twin we found out today. One other mate and his Mum and Dad too. That was the people mix, just add ice and just add skates. And hey presto you get this…
Thanks to Wifey for the photos of the fat man wearing the most inappropriate garb for ice-skating… But hey, despite the cramps, blisters and pain in my arches I had really good fun haha.
It really was just so great to watch all the boys hit that epiphany and confidence moment… You could see them all get that: “That’s how you do this…” moment and that was it. No stopping them after that – as you will see from the video.
Strawberry Blonde also had a blast and went from looking like a baby giraffe wearing a wet suit on ice, to a rather elegant ice-skater, gliding around the rink. Well done sweetie…
Police report; “Wanted, fat man with large beard, wearing shorts and a Hawaiin shirt and ice-skates…” WTF!!!

Happy Happy Birthday to our new BFF, Rohan. Thank you so much for inviting Jude Jude. He had such fun and is now super-addicted to ice-skating, even asking for lessons. What fun we all had. Thanks to Mum and Dad too – lovely to meet you both.
Thew crew today. I love how they organised themselves in height order. They look like a little bar-chart bless them hahaha. Birthday boys are at (L-R) #2 and #4, with Rohan (Jude Jude’s mate) at #2. What a lovely group of boys. They all had such fun.
Even Rohan’s Dad being very naughty in this picture haha. You just can’t beat happy smiley faces. I’ll take that any day of the week!!!
Happy Happy Birthday Rohan. You have a crazy mate in Jude Jude though. He’s the only person I know that has tried to go ice-skating in flip-flops haha…
What a lovely weekend we just had with two call-outs of Stella Bar @ Changi & Ice-Skating @ Kallang Leisure – busy weekend… A really busy one this weekend. Thanks to my Wifey for taking over the bathroom finishing and allowing me to babysit. Great 121 time with the kids and we were able to sleep in our own bed again last night. Thanks again to Rohan for a lovely birthday for Jude Jude, we hope you had a lovely day and look forward to seeing you soon for a monster play-date little man. Bugger off Covid-19 we can still have a wonderful weekend that we all did – ENJOY!!!
