Boutique Buttocks AKA Bukit Batok

Exploring time again today as a place that Wifey found online. A new place we have never explored before too. A lovely lunch beforehand to build up our strength and then off we go to the Bukit Batok Nature Reserve – and it is a beauty. I loved it. There is a memorial to the Japanese & Allies that died in WWII and a huge ex-quarry now a stunning lake and cliff. Where the memorial is are a load of steps that used to led to the hilltop where their communication tower was during the war, now it there are new modern versions reaching high into the sky.

Jungly walks through the trees with chances to see monkeys, pigs, squirrels and an array of birdlife and fauna. Yeah this place is stunning.

As my co-pilot and I walked we came up with the nickname for our new place – and that is how this blog is named;

1st up was a rather yummy lunch/brunch at a new place for us on Upper Bukit Timah Road called Spruce. Very nice – see islifearecipe.net for a blog on that.

Here is the memorial – originally just for the Japanese and then the Allies were added too – as it should be. And these are the steps leading up the hill to where the Japanese had their communication towers during WWII. Can you see Wifey in the distance?

A bloody long walk up the hill 1st and then all the steps. You get to the very top and that’s it, you have to go all the way down to take the jungle trail. A folly of sorts is these steps…

A HUGE modern version of the communication tower back then (x2 in fact) – this thing is super-high and serviced by a single ladder. Imagine having to change the light-bulb at the very top of this thing…

So cool jungly bits. Watch the video for some footage fo the walkways. I saw this amazing great big rock that has clearly been there a while due to the tree roots growing all over it. Is it just me or does it look like a giant testicle?

How stunning is that? It is amazing here. An old granite quarry that becomes a stunning nature park. It is seriously impressive here.

You can seriously tell it is a damp, humid jungle. Check out this. You’d want this at every party you hold – such an amazing fungi.

Yes, indeed there was a “selfie selfie” moment for “Facebook Facebook”…

It really is just stunning here. If you have not been before it is well worth a little visit.

Yes, Plump Beard was there as well – enjoying this incredible nature experience with the family K.

Jude Jude just airing off his armpits – hey, it’s a long walk to here and it is really humid.

Seriously – have a look at this place. It really is absolutely stunning. Turtles splashing about. Fish jumping. Birds chattering and squirrels scampering. I cannot iterate enough how beautiful this is.

Nature is showing off her best at every footstep too. Everywhere you look.

Every step…

And then it was all over, and we had to run to a local hawker ‘buried’ in the nearby HDB to get some hydration (cough cough), which is also where we found that unique savoury pancake experience – see islifearecipe.net for more on that.

Off we scoot from the hawker to another hawker at Timbre+ to get access to our favourite Filipino BellChon in Singapore. The kids decided to entertain Wifey and me by pretending to be a variety of TV shows – see more of that below in the YouTube channel.

What a cracking day – a stunning lunch at a new pace. Energy loaded in our bellies we went off exploring and hiking. That done we were able to explore a brilliant little hawker to grab some snacks and hydration and then off to our favour Singaporean located Filipino hawker in Timbre+ before scooting home to take a well deserved sleep.
