CNY @ KSL in Johor
My bad as always this CNY 2019. Nothing booked, and left to the last minute. I tried a few places, but no go, or SUPER expensive. I had booked leave though as this year was a cracker with CNY falling on Tuesday and Wednesday. What to do we thought. Hmmmm, well we haven’t been there for a while. Last time was when doing Mary and Jude’s ‘Great Escapes’ remember? So here we go, here is our CNY @ KSL in Johor.
Now that is not a bad little welcome is it. I opened the curtains in the room and BOOM. Well hello there Malaysia. Thank you!!!
Our first night’s dinner at a rather fantastic Japanese in the shopping centre. Double celebrations for this. CNY of course, but also to celebrate our Naoko’s birthday. She is always with us, and every year we celebrate her. Happy Birthday Ni.
Too funny. Jude is big in to sketching at the moment, and they really are very very good. So to copy him I sketched this. Mummy and Daddy saying no more iPad to Jude, and a little private joke of Mum saying; “Learn you when will?”
But Jude’s was better. I saw in the loo that it had a water jet thingy. So the inquisitive kid in me wanted to test it out. Low was boring so I turned it up to medium and a huge jet squirted out of the bathroom door and all over Mum. So this is Jude’s sketch of Mum being angry with Dad, and saying no more Dad. Hence the cross over the toilet. Just genius for a 5 year old, so so funny!!!

On here is some silly Boomerang stuff, Amy and Jude ballroom dancing, and probably the most amazing fireworks I have ever seen in my 50 years on the planet. Boy the Chinese Malays go for it. Off the charts incredible event at 00:00 to welcome in CNY. Hundreds of little parties happening as far as the eye could see. Amaze-balls. Well hello there little piggy.
After a lovely lay-in and brekkie it was off the swimming pools. Usually a big dinosaur themed one (half closed due to re-furb – strange time to do over CNY – but hey), and the normal pool. But the kids still had a blast, well apart from Ollie who had school work, and myself who had work work. Bugger
Waitress in the bar asked what would I like. I asked for a long-neck. Imagine my surprise when…
I love using the sports mode on the camera. I took about 20 here. Mary doesn’t move but Jude is hurtling down the slide. All you do is scan the 20 and keep the best ones. Here’s a good one or pre-entry…
And he’s gone… Jude, Jude where is Jude…? Notice my Mary hasn’t moved, ha ha!!!
Yes, yes, yes very happy. Especially Mum with her favourite UltraMan hat on. She just loves that show you know!!! Jude has now grown out of it, ha ha!!!

Chief photographer managed to find someone in his age group in the water park. He’s got a few more wrinkles though…
We even squeezed in a wee game of virtual golf for Ollie and I. He thrashed me as he took way way more shots than me so his score was much much higher!!! Here he is putting for 33 on a par 5, see what I mean. He got WAY more than me!!!
Day #2 for CNY @ KSL in Johor was spent eating breakfast, checking out, re-arranging taxi pick up location, shopping, eating lunch, and sitting in traffic on way home. Just a word of warning/advice; KSL shuts down completely for CNY, as in it is shuttered up closed. So bear that in mind. Whereas our 2nd choice today, right next to immigration in Johor, was JBCC. Fully open, cool shops, some rather OK restaurants and a big fuck off Angry Birds Adventure Park. Yep next time we’re staying near there, sorry KSL you have lost The Kennett’s now.
We had some really crappy food, as in really crappy. Pizza Hut Johor, be ashamed of yourself. Terrible service and really really CRAP food. Worst ever. We only chose you because you were open, but never again. You shall now be know in Kennett family vocabulary as Pizza Shit. We would rather starve. KSL, please work out if you are open or closed on CNY, you can’t do hybrid. Also sort your payment system out, as cash only when all ATM’s and money changers are in the bloody shopping centre that you shut is just fucking daft!!!
