Day #1 Panglao, the Philippines Nov’2019
And we are off again to the Philippines. A short trip to the house for four of us only this time. Ollie busy with stuff, and we have Milo now so BeBe had to stay for both those to be baby-sat (thank you BeBe). Not sure which one needs babysitting more? A few minor repairs for the house, a few purchases for the house, a family visit or two, some eating, some beaches, a quick stay in a resort and we’ll be on our way back again. So the usual silly o’clock wake up call for our Scoot flight to Cebu to dash for the ferry then to Tagbilaran Ferry Port on Bohol. Here is our Day #1 Panglao, the Philippines Nov’2019.

Ignore all the other stuff haha – we made it in perfect time to Pier 1 @ Cebu to catch the fast ferry @ 1400 to Tagbilaran arriving about 1600. Perfect. First some refreshments and grab some snacks for the ferry. Not flagging yet, despite the early start.

I tell you what it is REALLY busy today at Pier 1, Cebu. It really does show that tourism is booming as well when you look at the variety or race down there. Way more non-Filipino now.

See what I mean, now looking the other way. WOW! Remember the guys in white? They are the blind masseurs (still amazes me). I think they have doubled down to deal with demand too. Way more of the guys than before.

I could not help myself. This Korean lady next to me decided to put a hair-roller in for the ferry journey. I thought it looked like she had stuck a hamster-wheel on her hed. Made me giggle, hence the photo.

Our beautiful acquisitions from the McCormicks came on the flight with us. So we now have three beautiful Chinese (we think) porcelain statues in the house. I think they look beautiful in the Philippines.

And here she is. She is looking beautiful is she not. We have now put the grass down and this is the first time we have seen her. I need to get a new umbrella for the patio as a guest did not put it down and the one you can see got snapped off in a storm.

Note we also now have rental scooters and cars with the house. Talk about going up in the world… Thank you, Amy, for the posing. Sorry modelling.

Home is looking just homely. I love this place. I am so proud of what wifey and I have achieved with this little space of ours in-home Bohol. It’s a stunner. The kids think so too.

Yes, it is compact so we have used all the open-space surrounding it to maximise usability. Like removing all the dining room furniture and combining it with outside furniture under a gazebo. Hey presto, we have an alfresco 8 seating dining table now. Genius. I love sitting here in the fresh air.

And for dinner tonight we were meeting Jimboy at one of our family favourites. We must have Bellychon. We must. Bellychon is the baby version of a full pig slow roast. Stuffed with ‘secret’ herbs and spices, slow roast to perfection, with super-crackled skin. It is just off the charts bloody brilliant and a must eat if you come to The Hideout.

This is less than $1 and it is stunning. Some of the absolute very best roast pork belly ever eaten by these huge jaws. It’s sublime. Juicy and fall-apart meat with subtle herbs and spices kicking on through. Then hit it with the native dipping sauce and KABOOM!!!

With Jimboy we were also taking Mae, YanYan and Yommel (spell-check) who is Mae’s brother-in-law. Mae’s sister and he are the ones bringing rental cars into our house portfolio. They were also quite amazing to pick us up from the seaport this trip, bless them. Eating, drinking, chatting and some cool tunes wafting into the night air to boot. Yeah this is good!

These two were excellent. They played something like 8 or 10 tracks in a row for set one before taking a break. That’s quite incredible on its own, but they were also so very damned good.

And it has to be said, another rather interesting selfie following the previous interesting selfie. Perhaps the Coca Cola has kicked in? For Jude that is, not for me.
