Day #11 on Panglao, exit plans but still lunch & dinner
Wow, what a day Day #11 on Panglao, exit plans but still lunch & dinner was. I am exhausted mentally and physically and tomorrow is going to be just as bad I think. I wish to call out again the AMAZING staff at SilkAir in Cebu, and the Singapore Embassy in Manila. WOW!!! Pretty much on 24×7 with us, helping us as a family get back to Singapore. I really have been blown away by how supporting and flexible they have been to us. Amazing.
So today, whilst working, I also had to drive the family to the local clinic so we can all be tested and cleared for travel. Again I was rather impressed by the new health centre in Dauis, like 5-10 minutes from our house. Super-nice staff. But funny we all have to wear masks and I had donated mine to Jude Jude as he had broken his. Daddy-improv kicked in. Why did we leave this to the day before you may ask? Well, Dr Cert is only valid for 24 hours prior to the travel. Other countries are doing a 14-day validity I heard from the Embassy, but here 24-hours only.
With those 5 Dr Certs in hand, we then dash to the other side of the city to The Tourism Board to sit through their 3-step process of form-filling. Proving we have Dr Cert. Proving we have flights booked from Cebu. Proving we pretty much stayed at home (our home) when in Bohol. All proven meant we can then get seats on the ferry tomorrow at 0700am. That means leaving our house tomorrow at 0400am – OUCH!!!
Nearly done now for phase I of Day #11 on Panglao, exit plans but still lunch & dinner. Phase I was basically securing an exit for the family back to Singapore in-between. doing work email and calls. The last part of Phase I was to share all the documents from this morning with SilkAir for them to then turn our ‘reserved’ flight to fully booked and paid for flights. A few hiccups with that with them thinking we need our NRIC cards as well as PR re-entry. But many photos of cards passes and forms later we have 5 flights booked on the 2nd to last SilkAir flight to leave the Philippines for some weeks it seems. Talk about cutting it fine.
I will only let a deep sigh of relief leave these lungs when we enter tour condo and lay on our bed and start our ‘house-arrest’ for 2 weeks haha. But today was a big step in the right direction to achieving that. It is DESPERATELY sad to be going though and leaving our little house and Jimboy and Jhea, YanYan and Mae. Because of the new lockdowns happening whilst we were there, the kids were off school the entire time, so what we thought would have been 1 day together has turned into 11. It has been wonderful. Every cloud right…?
We had a lovely lunch together and the guys had dinner together as I was trying to work, but man oh man connectivity let me down tonight with two massively failed calls due to no Wifi. So only a part-day blog today, as that is all I did with the family today. A part day.
Let’s have a look at Day #11 on Panglao, exit plans but still lunch & dinner. I think tomorrow might not be so… nice!!!

And here is my improv of a face mask. Yes, my hankie wrapped around mu sunglasses. I look like I am about to hold up a bank. I kind of got my Pulp Fiction head-on in the clinic and when the lady asked if I was here for a Health-Check for a Medical Cert, I said; “Any of you f*cking pr*cks move and I’ll execute every motherf*cking last one of you!” Maybe a tad over the top, but I was deep in character.

Happy smiley faces today from the family. Love this snap. So cheesy with the grins bless. Poor old Jimboy & Jhea are out in the car park as no masks either. This was our first stop this morning at early doors. Dauis Medical Clinic, and very impressed I was too. This is our local clinic for when we eventually move here for good. Lovely staff and brand new facility.

Stop #2 was back to the Tourism Board of Bohol for steps 1, 2, and 3. Luckily we skipped 3 as we already had our Medical Cert so rock n roll. I had to wear my hankie here again. Whilst I was putting that on Dave the Parrot kindly reserved me a seat.

With the impending stay-at-home quarantine when we land back in Singapore I was very tempted to take them up on this very kind offer. I love this. WTF? Talk about random…

A quick photo for the Boss to prove I was remote-working today, even whilst queuing to get our ferry tickets reserved. Mind you though security here was bad, look at those buggers in the picture looking over my shoulder at my work!!!

Selfie, selfie. Say cheese Jude Jude. Hold on a minute is that even Jude Jude?
Anyway, success folks. We got our medical cert, we got confirmed. on the ferry tomorrow at 7am from Tubigon, we booked our taxi at 4am, we confirmed and paid for our SilkAir flights. I think we are on our way home. I hope, I think. Read more tomorrow on that. Keep everything crossed, please!!!
Now to feed the hungry hoards which are family Kennett. As I drove around trying to find a face mask I noticed that an old favourite, Golden Cowrie, was now replaced with a new joint and it was open. Let’s have it. Off we go to Antonio’s Bacolod BBQ and we were all rather happy we did when we got in, ate and chatted on exit. This is a cracker, just opposite the San Jose Cathedral. Well worth a look if you are in the city. Quality. But why is it quality? Let me show you.
Day #11 on Panglao, exit plans but still lunch & dinner – and this was lunch!

Any restaurant that has a sign like this on the wall immediately gets my vote snd my interest hairs on the back of my neck standing up!!! We might not be using bare hands in the Covid World we live in at the moment though. Oh yeah, and WTF is chicken oil? We find out soon enough…

They state they are specialists at BBQ chicken and pork ribs, so of course, we massively order up on them. The chicken was a little dry for me, but we did order the breast, AKA Pechopak. Chicken Oil is bonkers nice on the rice, and then get some Native Dipping going and hell yeah your world is rocking in BBQ chicken heaven.

Like a Genie’s bottle full of some special potion. Here is the Chicken Oil. I am assuming it is rendered chicken fat, as it was quite intense on the chicken flavour. Heart attack in a bottle, love it!!!

This is where I will give these guys a hell of a massive pat on the back. Their Spare Ribs are to die for. Absolute quality ribs. Melt in your mouth, fatty, charred porky goodness. Yeah, these are damned good!!! For these, we would come back again, and again…

The Holy Trinity? Chicken Oil. Garlic Vinegar. Soy Sauce. All you need now is a little sauce tray, half a Calamansi and a Birds Eye Chili and you are rocking my friend. Best dips on the planet!

A lovely fresh Cucumber Salad to go with it all. Slithers of ginger in there, with vinegar and sweetness too. Delicious.

Wifey looks like she’s having a stroke, and Jimboy is having lunch with someone else, but apart from that a lovely family photo on our last day together. Love it.

Strawberry Blonde decides to go hard on Sisig. It turns up quite ‘wet’. Always the way when the skillet pan is not hot enough, you get no charring. So back it went. It comes back like this with little crispy charred bits even after the egg is stirred in. Looks incredible. Then she tried it. Too spicy. BOOM, this became Ollie and mine – what a cracking Sisig they have here. Great work guys, this is up there in the top echelons of Sisig. Delicious.
