Day #6 in the Philippines June 2019 – Wedding Anniversary
Today was my wifey and my wedding anniversary. A very special day for us, which we will come to later. But we needed to go shopping for a few essentials and wifey wanted to clean the house, await aircon survey, await PLDT for WIFI and also await the flower delivery that we had ordered a few days ago when staying at Kew Hotel. So Day #6 in the Philippines June 2019 – Wedding Anniversary was special for sure, but also bloody busy.
I took the kids away for the morning, lunch and early afternoon. So wifey and I were separated after we had exchanged cards and gifts, but we made up for it later of course. Dinner together, I meant dinner together. What were you people thinking…? Here comes Day #6 in the Philippines June 2019 – Wedding Anniversary.

Uber cool is that Chateau de Paz has started construction on the restaurant and lake. Remember I mentioned this before? They are building a lake and stocking it with fish. The idea is that you fish, hopefully, catch one and take it to the restaurant for cooking. I love that idea. Footings are going down right now. We also found a short-cut to the main road to catch tri-cycles, and one of the fields you walk through is full of fresh mint – as in full of it. The smell is stunning. My new herb garden. I love it.

Amy is now super confident and riding ‘side-saddle’ on the back of the bike powering the tri-cycle whilst Jude and I have the luxury and comfort of the side-car. Me and my buds going shopping. Bring it on Tagbilaran.

Walking around ICM to get a few things. Is that bloke in red checking me out? Look at those shady eyes. He looks like a right wrong-un. I’m keeping my eyes open for you mate. I am watching you!!!

I had to pop in the hardware store to get some silicon to seal the shower again and ‘repair’ the white between the tiles. The kids were being really helpful in helping me today. So helpful. Hmmmm!

Both the klds had a noodle rush so off to the Japanese Ramen place in ICM for a lunchtime feed. Stocked up again and now off to find rocks for the spacing between the walkway to the house before we lay down the grass. See what I mean? So, so busy today. Always, in fact, every time we visit the house. There is always something to do.

A little clothes shopping for Amy, and new hat shopping for Jude. Due to the hat, he seemed to think he had turned in to the elevator assistant stealing the poor guys’ seat.

It’s seriously hot work doing this shopping and walking stuff. So an emergency stop at one of our favourite Tagbilaran restaurants for a quick refreshment or two before spinning home to see Mum/Wifey. I love this little view. Home #3 – I am so lucky to have UK/Singapore/Philippines all as homes… Add to that Japan/Australia/USA double lucky!!!

Repairs, deliveries and placing done. She is looking stunning is she not? Grass to go down. One more aircon to add. PLDT Wifi now in. We are rocking. She is a stunning home. We all love her.

How could you not want to live here? It’s a beautiful place, and I am still pinching myself that I own it with wifey. Stunning.

Up-dating some pictures for AirBnB – here she is in all her glory, and showing off the fact that she is detached and next to the kids’ playground. All painted up now and concreted on the front too for the grass to go down next.

Very proud of my first bricks and mortar project.

Funny I bought a box of stones for the walkway. 54 small sacks in fact. costing 2,300 Peso. Nice colours and all that but #1 expensive and #2 still not enough. So then on this shopping day, I espy a stone mason with sacks stacked up. The kids and I walk down and yes they sell stones. For a SACK full, approximately twice the amount of what we purchased for 580 Peso. I am gutted!!! But Mae and YanYan come to the rescue yet again. They buy the stones and merge the two purchases into the following…

Check that out. I think that looks stunning. And when we get the gras down it will be truly a WOW moment. I love it!!! Thanks to Mae and YanYan, just amazing!

Check out what Mae and Yan Yan ended up doing. OMG. You both should start up your own company! Now there is a thought.
We then take a breath and some time to get showered and changed for our very special Anniversary dinner. I had a few secrets up my sleeve for wifey. It goes like this. Of course, there was no other place we would be frequenting tonight other than Smoque Bistro & Bar. Out absolute and all-time favourite. I was Facebook messaging Chef Raphael and he offered to visit the market and cook up a special dish for Mary = surprise #1. Surprise #2 was we had Mary’s Mum and Dad and Mae and YanYan joining us too. A wonderful family dinner on Day #6 in the Philippines June 2019 – Wedding Anniversary. A special thanks to Chef Raphael. My friend, you and the crew made this a very special night thank you. The most AMAZING food yet again. Michelin needs to give a STAR out on Panglao buddy!!!
Only a few photos tonight – but special ones of the family having a wonderful time and some new menu items we could not help but consume this night. Clearly, that was with some advice from the Chef. Fast become a good friend.

Yeah, I think wifey was happy with the location choice and menu choices that Chef and I made together. Here is a new one. Seafood quesadillas. Holy crap. Scallop, prawn, fish, and we think some cheesy cream sauce. The whole table raved about these. Yet another favourite from the menu. Everyone was ooohing and aaahing about this. NICE!!!

Yeah, we love this place. Almost part of the furniture now. When I landed in Panglao we virtually went straight there and were so early that we were sat outside waiting for 1800 opening. We love it. The WHOLE FAMILY love it. Again folks if ever you get to Bohol/Panglao this is THE place to eat. Believe me.

Here is that “off the menu’ special. Skate wings BBQ’s with garlic, butter and fresh herbs – we think. Again the WHOLE TABLE went bonkers over this dish. Even Chef said it is like the chicken of the sea and everyone chomping down on this said the same. It literally disappeared in the blink of an eye. I think I (OK Chef) earnt some Brownie points this evening. What a lovely anniversary dinner. So very special!

The lucky anniversary couple with our new found BFF, the food master, the creative genius behind Smoque Bistro and Bar. This is Chef Raphael. A legend that I am proud to say is a friend of mine and my family. He is indeed a splendid chap!!!

And then it is all over. The food is finished. We await our tri-cycles home to the house. Our last night there before we disappear to Cebu for our last two nights and the forthcoming journey home to Singapore. Oh yeah and some old git’s 51st birthday whilst we are in Cebu. Whilst waiting we have time for a couple more photos. Sometimes I wish I could lock these two up. Look at those faces…

And the final one for tonight is the ladies. Mamang, sis Mae, Amy and of course my beautiful wifey. Thank you for a lovely night ladies.
