Jurassic Mile Nov’20
Wow, the weekend came round fast this week. Delightfully so though of course. It’s time for family fun again. A monster day yesterday so a calming day today bit still a desire to try something new on Red Dot. With the calming of the timeslot booking, we thought we’d scoot down to Jurassic Mile Nov’20 for a wee looksie and explore. It’s an ‘OK’ on the excitement barometer. All a tad too static. VERY crowded little narrow walk/cycle/jog-way and of course no masks as people are ‘exercising’ or taking photos so a little Covid worrying too.
It is probably a once and once only for family Kennett.
The directions are poor at the moment. Depending on which end you start the walk determines where you also come out at the end and what is available. One end is just a bloody long exposed walk to any civilization and the other end is a walk to the airport. So if you fancy Jewel as an endpoint start at one end, and if you fancy places like Stella Restaurant then start at the other end.
But the web site and directions and even taxi drivers do not know and don’t advertise well – there is one pin only on Google Maps for this place. I’d start at the Stella Restaurant end and walk back to the airport and continue on to Terminal 4 and connect to Jewel if I were you. Also, promises of frequent refreshment stops are a figment of imagination, there are NONE – not even a shitter… AKA toilet.
So some advisory from someone that has done it;
Take drinks – water etc,
Start at Stella Restaurant end and walk to Jewel for lunch and refreshments,
Prepare to get squashed and bumped so perhaps not ideal for buggies and wee babies,
It takes TOPS 30-minutes so don’t plan a day around it – it is brief,
Prepare to be walking for that part of your East Coast ride – it is far too narrow to expect to have jogging, cycling, walking, photography,
Wear a hat – maybe a hard hat as you go along the golf course, and yes, someone has got hit…

The starting marker if you go from the airport end – I still can’t help think that it would be so much better to have gone in a loop.

Don’t remember learning about Day-Glo dinos when I was a kid – maybe they have been attacked by the 80’s? I notice no leg-warmers or shell-suits though…

Cutesy version for the run alongside the golf-club – little Pterodactyls holding golf balls in their mouths.

That is one angry Durian, holy cow!!! And it’s really smelly too!!!

This T has the same potential power as Wifey’s ET-T…

You don’t have to keep yawning mate, it’s not that boring. Well actually…

He must have one hell of a dental plan…

I got one of these for Amy for Chrismas and it covered itself in paper with a bow and jumped under the tree. Yep, it Raptor XmasPresent.

So these guys found a Genie in a bottle and had a wish. They were both desperate for a beer and wished for a long-neck.

It is cool. The models are great, and the colours are a really unique way of showing off the dinosaurs. Hey and it is free and gets you out and about with the family walking or riding – everything there is a positive bonus – well done Changi!!!

Just me or does this look something more like death-row? Are they inmates walking their last walk towards me???
And that was that. 30-minutes walk. Jam-packed. Sweaty. No refreshments on route. It’s a once and once only I feel for us. Especially if you wind up at the far end away from the airport and literally you either double back and repeat the mile in reverse or have to go to Stellar Bar which is very old and sad now, or jump a taxi. Still, it is a well-done try by Changi Airport, especially with little or no passengers frequenting the terminals these days. Start at the Stellar Bar end if I were you, end up at the airport and go grab a beer and dine at Jewel and support the local restaurants – ENJOY!!!
