Koh Lipe, Thailand, Day #5 Kennett’s Tour
What did we do today, on Koh Lipe, Thailand, Day #5 Kennett’s Tour? It was a lazy, enjoy Akira Lipe Resort day. And boy we did that in style. This place is just incredible. A fantastic buffet breakfast at the beautiful breezy restaurant, but the main pool and beach. I have to admit I was a little dusty as I met the Chefs last night at the bar and they introduced me to Thai Rum, oh dear!!! Great guys from all over Thailand, and seriously bashing out some amazing food as you’ll see from yesterday and today, and more detail in IsLifeaRecipe.net later.
Afterwards we had a wander down Walking Street, the place with all the shops, bars and restaurants. All mostly shut as this was early. But we popped in a few shops and bought a few bits – critical was Thai mosquito spray – these things here are the size of sparrows. I recommend buying your spray local – it’s in a pink spray bottle. A MUST!
And then rain stopped play, or did it? Of course it didn’t. We went all together for an hour foot massage. Heavenly! I love rain!
What a brilliant day today was – and here it comes in photo form for your enjoyment (not as much as ours though).

My Mary is in heaven because she found the world’s biggest Mango here on Koh Lipe!

Yes I did get asked to take this ‘natural’ shot ha ha. But it is a cracker. This is our balcony from the hotel room here at Akira Lipe, but what is beyond the balcony?

Well here is a clue as modelled by Baby Jude, clearly having a fabulous time!

Yep we step from our room to this! WOW! Here is Amy all alone in our private flipping pool today, how good is that?!

New snorkel mask in much use this trip! This thing is brilliant. A must for all kids! Jesus I sound like Ryan’s Toy Review!

Spot the difference? Yep no iPhones or iPads!!!

Baby Jude and Darth Snorkel!

Off now to the front pool for lunch. Not a bad view I think you may agree. This place is heaven, believe me!

It’s midday somewhere. Time for a drinkie, well it is holiday after all! Hold on I am not even there!!!

A wee view of the restaurant and reception of Akira Lipe. Stunning, is it not!

Yes I was actually on this vacation! And my beard too!

Now this one I LOVE!!! Love my family!

Just a couple of different ones for lunch today – Amy orders the Pla Thod KraTiam, or deep fried sea Bass with garlic and peppers. She added some fish sauce and stated to me; “It was soooooooo good!” Looks bloody amazing!

I chose the Massaman curry with slow cooked beef, potato, peanuts and coconut milk. One of the very best curries I have ever had, and for sure the best Massaman curry ever to cross these lips. Akira Lipe Chefs, be proud of this one. It’s up there with the best-ever eaten dishes for me. AMAZING!!!

Plastic watering can that cost like 50c keeps this little lad so so busy. Watering the floor is a virtual full-time job!

He clearly is very proud of his work, as is Mum!

Shaky, shaky!

“Job well done Baby Jude!” “I know Dad!”

Superb music pumping all day long around the pool, and #2 clearly could not help herself!

Hours and hours in the pool, playing and chilling. Love it! Love this place. Love Koh Lipe. Love Akira Lipe Resort. It is a MUST DO destination, and for us now, a MUST DO AGAIN destination! Mum, we’ll bring you here!

Everywhere you look there is beauty!

Fun, fun, fun – what more could you ask for from a holiday. Gonna be a sad day on Friday when we have to leave. That is a definite!!!

“OK Dad we admit we are rubbish at building sandcastles, and we are sad because of it!”

“Just hanging with my Sis, Dad!”
Koh Lipe, I will give you one knock though. Clean your beaches. Pay some guys to get in there and pick the shit up from the beach. I watched this tonight. I assume a tourist/visitor to your island, black bag in hand, wandering down the beach picking up the flotsam laying there. That is just wring. You should be proud of what you have and want it to be pristine – please. A little more attention at that. And to the lady that was doing this cleaning up exercise, whoever you are, and if ever you read this – be proud, I was amazed and humbled to watch you!!!

All I can say is good on you whoever you are. I have done the same in Singapore on St John’s Island. Country – be aware and do it yourself!!! Crap looking beaches impacts you as much as us visitors, we won’t come back if the beach is disgusting – the beach is yours!!!
Dinner tonight was at Shy Bar, or The Steakhouse on the beach. We sat down and got the drinks menu, hold on a minute this looks familiar. Yep this restaurant is owned by our hotel, Akira Lipe Resort. At least we know we’re in good hands.

Tom Kah Kai at the restaurant. Weird is that this is better than at the parent hotel restaurant!

Ollie and I also had a cheeseburger with bacon. Damned fine burger thank you The Steakhouse!

And Amy goes for, quite literally, the biggest Croque Monsieur I have ever seen. It was a monster!

And tonight we had date night, thanks to Ollie for baby-sitting. Nice photo Babes, surely having fun and loving this place. That is clearly evident.

Just up the beach the fire dancers are going strong, love these pictures where the flames all bled together in to one stream.

Even made a heart shape by accident. Beautiful!

Have to say the full moon here is a little eerie, all misty and foggy.

Akira Lipe Resort, you are so flipping cool. You can’t help but just love this place. Cools sounds chilling the night, cold cheap beers, beautiful sea breeze and fantastic company – yes I am very happy!

And because it was date night, I organised some fireworks for my Mary, just up the beach (do you think I’ll get away with saying that?). Is this the icing on the cake or what.
