Ollie and I have really decided that this is a family affair now. So we await the first Saturday after the 4th February and then choose where we’ll go for dinner to remember Nina, Noako, Mum, Wife, Friend. Today we chose our new location of Siglap, and one of our favourites round the corner – Gourmet Plus Restaurant at Frankel Avenue in Siglap. We love it here. People know us now, the food is incredible, not too badly priced and it is walking distance from home.
That hits a lot of boxes for us.
So off we wander for what as a truly wonderful family meal. We talked about her openly, well Ollie and I did, as we both know she would love this place we live in now – foie gras, wagyu, bone marrow, octopus, duck confit, balsamic vinegar French onion soup, and a major selection of red wine would have pulled her in here MANY times. And that’s just skimming the surface.
We remember days of eating in London, eating in Melbourne, eating in Japan, eating in NYC. In fact so many places, enjoying the food, the location, the family and/or friends. f course supported by copious beers and wines, this is our tribute and our remembrance once a year – and now my Mary and my Baby Jude are with us too. Let’s get some pictures a going.
Now before we ate dinner tonight we had already been ice-skating, ballet and had lunch. Ice-skating was with Mr Rutherford, his girls, Amy and I – so a couple of wee snaps of the girls to show that initial session off first.
Too much deodorant, The Titanic in mind or the two female version of Torville & Dean – come on Bolero… |
Very cute – but a VERY tired 7 year old after all this exercise |
OK maybe not then – here we are at the restaurant now, and check out Amy – all smiles and surround by wine. Now who’s Mum is hers? There’s no shadow of a doubt is there…. |
Some foodie snaps – Ollie and I plumbed for the Wagyu American Cheez Burger. Damn fine this was. Delicious in fact. Good choice #1 son, great minds thinking alike buddy! |
Mary had this Oxtail Stew on mashed potato. Spicy, stewy, but boy so so good. |
And here is the entire gang – pigging out in a big way – so much food ha ha. This is our corner. Glasses were raised – cheers and kampai. We will do this EVERY year. |
Now it’s getting really really funny |
And it was this kind of picture that was making us all squeal and giggle. Here is Amy and I having swapped faces. Come on how could you not be wetting your self looking at these. We had such fun.So Nina – Happy Birthday, the anniversary comes and goes yet again, adding another year since we last spoke. Never forgotten. We will always have these days for you wherever in the world we are. We hope you are proud. We know you are proud. I hope you love to see the kids growing and being so happy. We miss you for ever. |
