Punggol Settlement & Coney Island
It’s getting a little ‘stir-crazy’ in Red Dot so the family and I decided today to go overseas. It is officially overseas as you do cross a causeway haha. And that is how we did Punggol Settlement & Coney Island this day. We met up with The Rutherfords for lunch but they decided not to hang back for the rain to stop and join us on the bikes. We were determined however to get on the bikes and get some fresh air and new sites and sounds in our life. We waited out the rain and we did exactly that. What a cracking little island it is.
This is up there on the family day out recommendations from the Kennett crew.

“The Punggol Settlement is a bespoke food and beverage specialised development concept envisioned and materialised by a developer, to revive old Punggol and bring it back to its former glory and more as the dining destination of the North-Eastern sunrise pinnacle. Sited on the original general area of this vintage food and beverage location of the days of yore in pre-millennial Singapore.” So they say…
It’s cool, it really is. Sadly hit by Covid-19 with a few restaurant closures and/or only opening for dinner service so the choices are a little limited right now. But, it is uber cool. We sat outside shielded from the rain watching people and ships passing us by. Right in front us, almost only a spit away is Malaysia and to the right is the far end of Pulau Ubin – make you realise how big Pulau Ubin is as it stretches from Changi Village all the way to here at North-Eastern Singapore.
Once the rain had settled down a bit we jumped on some rental bikes and headed off to Coney Island. A beautiful place for hiking and cycling. Really stunning. Much flatter than Pulau Ubin too, so if you have little ones this will be much better for cycling for them.
