We decided to take a walk after Amy had had her afternoon nap. Go along the river on our side through the “small” Gardens on the Bay, across the Barrage and to the “big” Gardens on the Bay on the other side of the river.
It’s a beautiful walk, starting about 520pm or so, so not so hot despite the sun still beaming down. All through the gardens, kids on scooters, nice to be outside.
As we near the barrage. What the hell are these things in the skies. Here they are looking back over the Marina Bay Sands Hotel. Strange shapes, floating high up in the sky. Almost like large jelly fish – but in the sky ……..?
Ah Ha – they’re kites being flown off the barrage – cool!
And yes they were octopus.
IN fact no photo later, but when we walked back at night they were all lit up with neon lights.
A quick cool down for Ollie at the fountains on the way.
Hmmmm so where do we eat? Peach Tree as we usually do for Chinese or shall we see if Indochine is open?? Indochine is the winner, and what a winner.
It’s in one of the big “trees” in Gardens on the Bay. Literally you get a lift in the trunk and walk out in to the foliage, in to the actual restaurant. A circular restaurant with an inside and outside area for eating, drinking or both.
It was uber cool.
Hanging seats like you’d see in the 70’s, like the kids are showing off here.
Beautiful lights all around, glitter balls, just super cool it really was. This absolutely becomes one of my “show off Singapore” joints. Absolutely amazing. Food was ace too, in Tapas style – sweet potato mash with truffle oil, octopus simply grilled on the bbq with Asian dip, tempura prawns, stuffed lychee with bacon etc etc. Delicious!
See what I mean re the lights – gorgeous, as me Mary and Amy are showing off.
As I said it did not stop there. We finished food and drinks, I booked up for next meal on 9th November when friends come from UK. Manager says, great then I’ll book the upstairs for you too. Sorry upstairs, yeah help yourself go up he says and check it out – as he removed the barrier.
We all walk up to be on the roof top now, nothing at all above and the view is as below. How bloody nice is that. It’s breath-takingly beautiful. Seriously could sit here ALL night soaking in the views. Amazing. The domes of the Gardens, the Flier, the gardens, the other trees, the F1 starting lane and pits tonight with a go-kart race on, the river and even our condo. Beautiful!
Turn the other way and there is the Marina Bay Sands, the Marina, the lazer show, MBFC, Merlion and all that. Again NOTHING above you apart from sky. It’s awesome. Not as high as Altitude but as impressive. Probably about 10 stories up.
Amy took this shot. Nice one Amy, great photo!
Then we walk back home, through the trees, and the SkyWalk – how pretty is this.
This is a good snap.
The tree furthest left is the restaurant tree.
See the blueish patch at the top, that is where we ate.
See the green patch above that, that is the roof top bar. Oh Yes!!!!!
Reaching the barrage the fountains were dancing away. Multi-colours shining out in the dark. A gorgeous neon sight to watch.
Over the barrage now and walking down the gardens on our side.
Looking back across the river to where we had just been. Can you see the trees.
Is that a beautiful city skyline or is that a beautiful city skyline.
Well done Singapore – you just impressed me, Mary and the kids massively. That was truly AMAZING!!!!
