What a great day @ Art Science Museum
I’d been looking at this placer for some time, but we have never actually made it to the place. So today was the day to rectify that. And What a great day @ Art Science Museum. Ruthers and Stacy had taken the Brady Bunch there, including Ollie, when we were in The Philippines, and it looked good. So how could we resist. I had taken a day off work, as I am off to London and Germany next week. So a lovely day entailed with the family. A lay in, a superb lunch at Gordon Ramsay’s (see Islifearecipe.net for that review), and then off the museum to see Future World and Marvel 10 year celebration.
I will apologise for the photos as I probably should have used the flash, but then you would lose the ambience of the living art you are in. You’ll see what I mean in a minute when you have a look at the photos. Here comes What a great day @ Art Science Museum. I tell you when Singapore does these things, they do do them so so well, and this was no exception. It was just fantastic. A must for those with families, I guarantee your kids will LOVE it. Come on down – it’s a cracking afternoon. Book on line to avoid the queues too.
FutureWorld is all about new forms of art. Art that moves, art that you interact with. It is simply incredible. For some of the six or so pieces they have something like 20 projectors covering the room. It’s amazing. Hoping you can see what I mean about leaving the flash off – you actually become part of the art as you walk around… Yes Jude, it’s cool right!!!
This picture is 3D, and rotates with butterflies and birds flying around and then off the edges of the picture. The kids can actually touch these on the wall and the float down the ground. It a virtual game of chase in art. Amazing!
This is the very first room we entered and were blown away by it. 5 more to go too!!!
This was the scene of rice paddy fields back in the day with workers working, bison pouching, clouds drifting. Again you sort of stand in a daze watching all the detail. Wow again!!!
As you can see the kids absolutely adored this place. This is still room #1. Jude and Amy were running around constantly interacting with everything that was trying to interact with them. What a success to the organisers of this incredible exhibition.
Room #2 now which starts with a bloody big slide, and as the kids slide through the objects they all get smudged or even cut up like the watermelon. Such fun. A few goes were obviously had by the munchkins.
Room #2 is very interactive with these ‘tables’ that you move blocks around and it changes the picture on the table. Rivers, trees, planes, roads, railways all appear, depending on what blocks you place and where you placed them in relationship to each other. So very clever. Transfixed my little 4 year old that’s fur sure.
Amy getting in on the mix now. See the clouds. If you put your hand in the way it stops the rain. Huh, how on earth… It’s a moving picture from an overhead projector….. beyond me!!!
Next up is intelligent colour block building. As you stack the blocks they automatically change colour to replicate the one next to it, or mix colours to become a hybrid if touching two different colours. What the…
This next bit is brilliant for the kids and so so clever. You get them sat down to colour in a pre-drawn picture. You then scan it, and bugger me its live on the wall. If its a UFO it’s flying around. If it’s a lorry it is driving on the road. Crazy good. And then the glowing balls. What a giggle these little ones had today. What a great day @ Art Science Museum it was. Bloody superb actually!
This is actually a flat piece of paper that I coloured in. Scanned it. 2 minutes later that flat 2D drawing and colouring is a bloody lorry on this virtual highway… So impressive. See Jude’s Van???
Of course this encouraged the kids to sit and colour. Not an iPad in site. Well maybe one HUGE one, but hey you get my drift. I love this – there again is my little lorry with all the other kids drawings and colourings.

In the video you will see Jude’s spaceship. In this snap, if you look right above Amy at the top of the picture – there is her very own flying saucer too. Genius!
Room #3. A weird writhing room of what looked like vines, with loads of ant-like things crawling all over. Quite eery. Kids didn’t get a buzz from this – so NEXT!!!
But for What a great day @ Art Science Museum, the best was surely saved until last. This is known simply as “space” as a work of art. This is simply awe inspiring. You get transfixed. Mesmerised almost. It truly is one of the coolest things I have ever seen. You actually walk right through the middle of this living piece of art. Mind-blowing. It’s worth coming just to walk through this. Gob-smacked!!!

So that was Future World. Breath-taking fun. Loved every single minute of it. What’s up next is the 10 year anniversary of Marvel. So in honour of that 10 years is a rather groovy celebration exhibition. Let’s get on with it – What a great day @ Art Science Museum.

SHIELD glider miniature up next. Kids going bananas every time I ask for a photo, they have to pull faces. Anyways great sign they are doing nothing but having a giggle and having fun. Nice one AmyBoo.
Now we’re crossing another portal in to ValHalla for Thor. Jude seems to have got confused, and gone all UltraMan. So much going on here.

Love this – they’ve gone all 70’s on me listening to StarLords Sony Walkman. Yep they are blurred cos they are a dancing!!!
Dr Strange up next – protect the Universe Amy – the strain on her face shows the pressure she is facing to win the Galaxy back for us. Or she really needs to fart???
He’s twisted himself in knots – looks like a double case of emergency toilet coming up!
This was cool. Interactive mirror that enabled you to open a portal. That portal was another mirror in the hotel that you can see them and they can see you. So flipping clever.
Black Panther Jude and Amy – woooooo, scary!!!
Double scary. He’s either Black Panthering or too much deodorant.
Woooooohhhhh – I think Amy and Baby Jude both deserve a part in the next film, when they defeat ‘nut-sack chin’ – go my little Avengers. So so strong!!!
And final one for todays adventure is to prove that I was actually there with the family. Me and Gwyneth are like so close you know – come on look she’s even letting me lean on her lap. Being a cook I love loads of Pepper – nuff said!!!

Art Science Museum be proud of this. 100% we’ll be back for more exhibitions now if that is your calibre. Just a brilliant family Friday before disappearing on a work trip next week.
