My gorgeous Wifey had her birthday today. Sorry for the delayed blog, still some technical difficulties in photo uploading being worked on. But here now are some videos and some great photos of my love on her special day. The kids outshone themselves today too with beautifully worded cards and presents and just being very good and loving. Sadly I was actually working today so we had lunch at home and then off to Cuppage Road for a rather wonderful birthday dinner. Some brilliant presents and a cake to die for as you will see. The birthday chick enjoying one of her rather cool pressies, a Simpson-eque representation of ALL the kids and us. I love it and so did Wifey – I think you’ll agree with that from her smiley face…
WhatsApp messages, Facebook posts and even cakes made by Mamang in the Philippines were all for Wifey today. So many cards and messages in fact. Gifts from a lovely set of hand creams & balms from #1, and shoes, jewellery, bra&knickers, all the way to the amazing canvases (2 of them – one for here and one for the Philippines house haha…).
As I said beautiful cards from the kids – but we have all agreed we have to call out Jude Jude’s – the creativity in this card from a 7-year-old is amazing and it is just so so sweet. Filling up reading it right now. A brilliant bit of writing from him for his Mum’s birthday – #1 & Strawberry Blonde also wrote beautiful cards and mine wasn’t half bad for her either with a personalised poem…
And what a cake… On its way from Sooperlicious Cakes is this beauty. I think the first time EVER on the planet that a Jollibee cake has EVER been made and Wifey is the one to get it haha. A very unique part of the birthday celebrations for her today. Lucky girl.
Wifey AKA Mummy Birthday Dec’20
What a cracking canvas for Wifey’s birthday – all the kids – Jimboy, Jhea, #1, Strawberry Blonde and Jude Jude. Just awesome. One of these will be proudly hung in the Philippines house one day when we can get there and one is in Singapore. She LOVED IT!!! Winner!!!
Dinner then ensued at Wifey’s choice of restaurant, and a new one for us. We went ‘native’ as we were all desperate for Filipina food. And Wifey found Gerry’s Grill which was pretty damned good – I’ll do a review for the place on Islifearecipe.net
See I was there – this place is great, Filipino water (AKA St Miguel), the smells of a Filipina restaurant with grills and sizzling platters whizzing past, even the decor and furniture has that local feel of the Philippines. It really was great. By the way, no bookings just walk-ins since Covid-19. We got there about 1730 and walked straight in. We left at 2030 and it was MOBBED – it literally looked like a Dr waiting room with loads upon loads of people sitting on socially-distanced seating waiting to get it.
Jude Jude loves White Rabbit candy sooooo much it seems – something he always orders from the Sari Sari store when we visit the Philippines. Love the bunny ears Jude Jude…
Don’t forget to watch the video for the cake ‘surprise’ and candle-blowing and wish-making bless her. And now it is time to start devouring the cake – Jude Jude in 1st with a delicious chip – hope they’re not too hot Mum…?
Proof that it is indeed a cake, just brilliant. Still amazed by this cake. and so was Wifey and that is the very best thing.

And that was that for another 12 months as Wifey AKA Mummy’s birthday was over. A lazy day with some very unique and different things for her this year. I think she had a lovely time. Calls and videos to the Philippines, and messages, cards and gifts from across the planet. We love you Mum AKA Wifey. We hope you had a wonderful Wifey AKA Mummy Birthday Dec’20. Much love from us.
