Wifey’s Birthday Etna Stylee
So today was that very special day, and it was Wifey’s Birthday Etna Stylee. A day working from home nonetheless but it did give me some quality time this morning with wifey and the kids and then a very special dinner with my very special lady and family. Yes to our family favourite of Etna. And boy what a feast we have. We love Mum having her birthday in December. Not because of Christmas, but because Mum’s birthday is in white truffle season. Woo Hoo!!! And Etna had a tonne of it.
So wifey was treated to some very fine jewellery as you will see soon, some amazing cards from around the world, handmade cards by the kids, and Facebook messages galore. Wow, she is one lucky lady, as are we. And then it was tools down and off for dinner. It was time for Wifey’s Birthday Etna Stylee. Our love our family birthday celebrations, as we all get to enjoy it. Bring it on.
Words of wisdom. Birthday or not, get your bum down here before they run out of truffles.

Here is the gorgeous birthday girl dripping in her new Thomas Sabo. I like, I like a lot. Oh yeah, and I like the jewellery too.

Happy Families time with our best bud at Etna. We are going hard on the specials board tonight, as in we ordered 6 options from it and one from the normal menu. Yeah we really are going hard on specials for my special lady’s dinner.

I can’t quite believe it but as soon as the specials were read I knew immediately that wifey was going to order this one immediately. She was even saying it is such a shame I don’t eat seafood as this was such an incredible dish. It was so rich and tasty. almost like a creamy cheese. Basically fresh sea urchin is put on top of the squid ink pasta and it melts into the sauce which is laced with saffron. Holy shit. Now I wish I liked seafood too. DAMN!!! On the specials board, this is called Black Ink Tonnarelli Pasta with Sea Urchin Sauce and Saffron. Wifey nearly fainted.

Now this one blew us all away. So much so that we had to have two. Check out those white truffle shavings. Holy cow!!! This dish is just incredible. I wonder if you could ever guess what it is? Broccoli Flan with Fontina Fondue, Crisp Scallops and White Truffle. My goodness gracious me. I wish wifey was the Queen and had two birthdays so we can get back here quick and have this again. The scallops are fried to a crisp, literally almost like crisps. A stunning dish. Just stunning. Not as stunning as wifey though of course.

Etna just keeps on giving tonight. Yet another new one. Almost like a Prata, set on top of some incredible cheese, and then God bless em a shit load of shaved White Truffle. Special surely is the right word to use for the food from the board. This was sublime. I think Jude had about half of this. This is Focaccia Di Recco with White Truffle. Goodness gracious me.

Now this dish. This dish was to die for. Especially if you are the rabbit inside the pasta. This little rabbit clearly has no lucky foot. Actually I think I might have eaten its foot. This was just a stunning pasta. This takes me back to that Etna experience of the really unexpected Pumpkin Ravioli. This one has us all curious. Amy & Jude wouldn’t eat Thumper, so it was just the adults. This was just a little gamey, the butter and sage sauce was just off-the-charts. It really was just a stunning pasta. One the board this is Rabbit Ravioli with Butter and Sage Sauce. WOW!!! Thanks Thumper.

#5 on the specials now. This is Risotto Al Castelmagno with White Truffle. This is a super creamy cheesy risotto and then wallop in with white truffle. Goodness me. It’s a beauty. It really is a beauty. Perfectly al dente rice, super creamy. Just a cracker of a risotto. OMG and it is vegetarian. Did I just say it was good? Incredible!

And #6 then arrives. WOW. How beautiful is this plating. This is the Grilled Beef Tenderloin with Porcini Parma Ham and Trevisana. Trevisana is the sort of red cabbage on the bottom. This steak is a lump. It’s thick. It was wrapped in the Parma Ham. Served with a mushroom sauce. Yeah this is Death-Row Cuisine at its finest. As I type this Jude is looking over my shoulder saying jow delicious this was and could I order delivery. Such a beautiful steak dish.

OK maybe a little under medium. But hey who cares. I went straight into the middle of the steak. WOW. The Parma Ham saltiness had got right inside. How on earth they did that I don’t know. The flavour of the steak was us insanely good. A cracker!!!

Talking of crackers here she is again. A beautiful cake for a beautiful girl. Best Tiramisu ever she said. I agree. But like a senile old man, I video’s us all singing HappyBirthday without pushing the record button. OMG. Anyways my lovely. Happy Happy Birthday.

Etna even gave us some traditional Italian Christmas cake. Goodness me. So bloody good. It looks quite heavy, but it so light and fluffy almost. It’s got candied fruits in it too. Stunning cake, Stunning end to the meal for a stunning Birthday Girl.

Although on a downside we did lose Jude for about half the meal on his bloody iPad.
And that was that another year flies past, but wifey still looks like a stunning teenager. Whereas I get to look more like Santa Claus every day of the year. How does that work? Today was a lovely day. I hope wifey had a lovely day. We are certain she liked her pressies. And we all absolutely had an amazing dinner thanks to our mates at Etna. So Happy Happy Birthday my darling. With all our love from family K. That was Wifey’s Birthday Etna Stylee. We sure did – ENJOY!!!
